Community

In this sermon, we are challenged to reconsider our understanding of community in our faith journey. The message centers on Luke 6:12-19, where Jesus demonstrates the vital interplay between solitude, community, and ministry. We're reminded that true community begins with solitude - our personal time with God. This solitude equips us to engage in genuine community, not as needy individuals seeking what only God can provide, but as whole beings ready to share and grow together. The sermon emphasizes two key aspects of biblical community: forgiveness and celebration. Forgiveness here takes on a new meaning - it's about freeing others from unrealistic expectations and recognizing the limitations of human relationships. Celebration, on the other hand, is about affirming each other's inherent worth as children of God, not just our accomplishments. This perspective shift can transform how we approach our church community, leading to deeper, more authentic connections rooted in Christ's love.
