Solitude

In our exploration of spiritual disciplines, we delve into the transformative power of solitude. This isn't mere isolation, but intentional time spent in communion with God alone. Drawing from Jesus' example in Luke 6:12-19, we see a pattern of solitude, community, and ministry. Often, we reverse this order in our lives, but true spiritual growth begins with solitude. This practice creates space for God to act in our lives, allowing us to hear His affirming voice amidst life's distractions. Like Martha in John 11, we're reminded that our deepest needs are met not in events or circumstances, but in Jesus Himself. As we cultivate this discipline, we may face initial discomfort - the 'J curve' of spiritual growth. Yet, perseverance in solitude can profoundly deepen our relationship with God, enabling us to better serve in community and ministry.
