Missions

Global & Local

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations"

Matthew 28:19

There is often debate around the word "missions" and what it means. Our approach is to model the life of Jesus. Jesus loved the unlovable, he touched the untouchable, he had compassion on those who had been forgotten.

We like to say that we have "Compassion for people and passion for God".

In Matthew 28, Jesus commands us to go.
Deer Run Church is intentional about making an impact for Christ both locally and globally.

Areas Where We  Are Serving

Short Term Mission Trips

At any one time, we have high school and college-age students taking part in summer or short term mission trips. For more information on how you can help support these young people and find out what the current projects are,  please contact the church.

Feed The Pride & Breakfast Club

Deer Run Church sponsors the Feed the Pride breakfast program at LDSS. This is a great opportunity to help students with their education by providing a healthy meal or snack.
Together with other local churches, we also provide breakfast/snacks for students at Queen Elizabeth Public School throughout the year.

Encourage our active missionaries

Scripture Prayers for Missionaries

Prayer is the greatest ways to support global and local workers. Use the following to pray for our missionaries?
  1. Pray for their relationship with God, spiritual rest, maturity in the faith, and overflow of the Spirit. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” (John 15:5).

  2. Pray for their physical well-being, health, safety, finances, and stamina in stressful conditions. “As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.  And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith.” (2 Thessalonians 3:1-2).

  3. Pray for their emotional well-being, peace, joy, and hope that abounds. “May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.” (2 Thessalonians 2:16-17).

  4. Pray for financial provision from God through faithful partners. “I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.” (Philippians 4:18).

  5. Pray for courage, obedience to the Spirit, and the advancement of the gospel in their work and ministry. “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” (1 Corinthians 15:58).

  6. Pray they will rely on the Lord for ministry success and depend on him in prayer. “With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. 12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians 1:11-12).

  7. Pray for their team’s effectiveness and unity. “Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.” (Philippians 2:1-2).

  8. Pray for more workers to join them on the mission field. “He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Luke 10:2).

  9. Pray for their local friendships, for open hearts, and transformed lives. “And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.” (Colossians 4:3).

  10. Pray for the country, government, and the local people. “Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper. (Jeremiah 29:7).
