Shiphrah and Puah
In this exploration of Exodus 1, we're introduced to two unsung heroes of faith: Shiphrah and Puah, the Hebrew midwives. Their story reminds us that God often uses unexpected instruments to accomplish His purposes. These women, faced with a horrific command from Pharaoh to kill newborn Hebrew boys, chose to fear God rather than man. Their courage and faith not only saved countless lives but also set the stage for the Exodus story. We're challenged to consider: do we live in the fear of the Lord? This fear isn't about trembling before an angry deity, but about revering God above all else, allowing His will to guide our decisions and actions. As we reflect on these brave midwives, we're invited to examine our own lives. Are there areas where we're compromising our faith due to external pressures? How can we cultivate a deeper reverence for God that empowers us to stand firm in the face of opposition?
